A welcoming six-week beginner course where you learn simple, everyday Japanese through
real cultural experiences. Each session begins with a hands-on activity—calligraphy, family
stories, tea ceremony, rajio taisō (radio calisthenics)—that makes the language feel natural,
memorable, and fun.
You’ll build confidence, enjoy gentle conversation practice, and finish the course able to talk
about yourself using basic Japanese words and phrases. A warm, practical introduction to
Japan for teens and adults who love learning by doing.
Students will be able to talk about themselves using simple Japanese words. Their ‘Hands-on’
experience will be a starting point for conversation with Japanese people while they are in New
Zealand. They will gain a deeper understanding of the culture, which will help spark their interest in
Japan even further.
