During three hours you will learn how to make three types of vareniki, Ukrainian dumplings. You can ask Olena any questions about Ukrainian culture, and try the traditional Ukrainian flower crown. 

Not suitable for gluten free diets 

Learning Outcomes:

  1. How to make a dumpling dough with the simple flour
  2. Three types of fillings for the dumplings: meat, cottage cheese, potatoes
  3. Knowledge about the cultural meaning of celebrations in Ukrainian culture.
  • Be sure to bring a container to take some yummy leftovers home


Meet our tutor – Olena Williams

Olena is one of the local globals that make Taranaki their home.

Originally from Ukraine, Olena has connections to many European, Asian and Middle Eastern cultures.

Olena hosts a radio show at the local The Most FM station. Every Saturday she interviews local foodies during her Taranaki Foodies show.

Olena loves cooking and her specialty is ethnic cuisines.
