The second of our ethnic cooking series workshops. Our tutor Olena Williams along with guests will cover different flavours and dishes from a range of different cultures. For workshop two we cover Vietnamese Noodle Salad Bún Chay/Bún Gà with your choice of tofu or chicken.

Skills: Knife skills, flavour balancing, simple seasoning

Fresh noodle salad with veg ( tofu or chicken option).
Skills to develop: quick pickling, herb layering, dressing making
Get ready for a fresh, vibrant Vietnamese cooking class where you’ll learn to create a classic
vermicelli noodle salad bursting with colour, crunch, and flavour. Participants will master the art of
balancing sweet–sour–salty notes, prepare silky rice noodles, and build a beautiful bowl with herbs,
crisp veggies, and your choice of perfectly seasoned tofu or tender chicken. We’ll also make a zingy
nuoc cham dressing from scratch and explore simple tips to adapt this dish for meal prep or
entertaining. This class is light, fun, hands-on, and ideal for anyone keen to bring a little more
Southeast Asian brightness into their kitchen.

For ages 10 and up

For safety we ask that any children under 15 are accompanied by a parent.

 

Meet our tutor – Olena Williams

Olena is one of the local globals that make Taranaki their home.

Originally from Ukraine, Olena has connections to many European, Asian and Middle Eastern cultures.

Olena hosts a radio show at the local The Most FM station. Every Saturday she interviews local foodies during her Taranaki Foodies show.

Olena loves cooking and her specialty is ethnic cuisines.
